Pub Night at The Ship Inn: a great start to the year

Dry January didn’t stop around 30 Tops’l members, partners, and two potential new members from gathering at The Ship Inn in Langstone for the Club’s annual Pub Night. Whether it was the extra local competition in the area, or a new chef, the menu had certainly become more adventurous this year.

Good food and great conversations

With the rise of dietary restrictions, organising group meals has become more complex. A big thank you to Steve Leniston for taking on the unenviable task of coordinating the food orders. While the pub had all the dishes correct, the allocation of meals proved a little chaotic. Some of us were either too busy chatting or had forgotten what we had ordered!

Topics of conversation ranged from the unpredictability of the weather, expectations for Scotland, cruise calendar bookings, and skills refreshers, to Club Sails in 2025. Progress on skills refreshers and bookings can be found here (requires member login).

It was a great evening, giving everyone a chance to catch up, share plans for the season ahead, and enjoy some good food.

As an added bonus, we’re pleased to welcome Marcus Chapman, one of the potential members who attended the evening and has since joined Tops’l. It’s great to see our community growing. Here’s to another successful year of sailing and social events!
