Carina Update

Chris W writes…

Carina is back in the water. She has been deck washed by Madge & Co and is available for booking.

Notes:

  1. Carina Seacock Lid and StrainerA new seawater cooling inlet cock has been fitted. It looks very much like the old one and functions in the same way however, please note that the transparent cap must be undone / done up by hand only. It seals very easily and does not require much force. Use of any clamping tool is likely to crack it.
  2. The transom shower is shut off pending a leak repair (and warmer weather).
  3. A new 35m anchor chain and >30m of rope rode (Nylon Octoplait) has been fitted. Markings are every 5m.
  4. The small Jib is currently installed. This is really a good sail that allows Carina to point so much better than with the Genoa.
  5. The Spray Hood is still with Flew sails being proofed.

As always, after a period of intense maintenance, please report anything amiss to Carina’s Bosuns, names and numbers are on the checklist. (Editorial comment: Remember that the Tops’l fleet are your boats. Where you have the confidence and competence, please deal with any issues yourself and notify the relevant bosun.)

Many thanks to everyone who came along to help get Carina serviceable again.
