One of the great joys of sailing is sharing it. At Tops’l, you can enjoy the water not just with fellow members, but with your own family and friends too.

Unlike many sailing clubs or yacht share schemes, Tops’l’s fractional ownership model offers a unique hybrid. You can sail with other club members, and you can bring your own crew – up to eight named friends or family – by simply adding a small monthly fee to your membership. Here are our costs.

They will sail alongside you as Crew, enjoying the same access and experiences as a regular member (although they will not be able to act as Skipper). Whether you are planning a weekend sail with friends, a day on the water with your partner, or an adventure with the kids, the experience is all the more special with your nearest and dearest.

Sailing as a family offers something few other activities can: real connection, a sense of shared purpose, and time away from screens and routines. Children love the excitement of setting sail, and adults value the chance to relax, learn, or simply switch off together.

Our yachts are designed with both safety and comfort in mind, and our supportive club culture means there is always someone to offer guidance or a helping hand if you need it.

How it works

• Sign up your immediate family, extended family and friends for just £12 a month on top of the relevant subscription
• Anyone on your list can join you and sail as a crew member (friends and family are not permitted to skipper a boat)
• Your immediate family can crew for another skipper in the club even if you are unable to join them
• Experience safe, comfortable sailing on well-equipped yachts
• Build memories, confidence, and sailing skills as a family
• Combine the flexibility of private sailing with the support of a community
