Dylan Fletcher and Team GBR win Sail GP 2025

Team GBR Win

In his first season as the full-time skipper of Team GBR, Dylan Fletcher has won the 2025 Sail GP competition. Sailing a F50 foiling catamaran, which is based on the America’s Cup AC50 from 2017, he was on top of the leaderboard coming into the final event in Abu Dhabi on the weekend of 28th/29th November.

He retained that position in the six race event to qualify for the Grand Final against Tom Slingsby, in the Australian boat, and Peter Burling, racing for New Zealand. Both these skippers are America’s Cup winners and have performed well in Sail GP. The final race itself was quite remarkable and any of the three teams could have won. Ben Ainslie runs the GBR team and Dylan Fletcher was selected as helm following his Olympic success in the 470 class and his World Championship in the Moth.

You may also notice Hannah Mills in the team line up. She operated as the strategist but also worked as a grinder, when the crew were short-handed, for efficiency in lighter winds. On the left-hand end of the photo is Ellie Aldridge who is a development athlete in the team. You may remember her winning moment in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris when she ‘flew’ her kiteboard over the finish line to take the gold medal.
